Retreat Center in France

Troma Ling Retreat Center project

In the isolated 'vallée du Biros' in the heart of the Ariege region of the Pyrenées, is where it is hoped to create a Retreat centre that will welcome practitioners planning to do a traditional 3 year retreat.

Rigdzin Namkha Gyatso Rinpoche had several auspicious dreams about the project to create a retreat centre here in France, and expressed much enthusiasm about the qualities and potential of this particular site.

The land identified for the future Retreat Centre is situated above the small commune of Bonac-Irazein, facing south on the mountainside at an altitude of 1300 metres. The land is one and a half hours' walk from the nearest village and is surrounded by forests of chestnut and birch trees. There is one small house and two small 'bergeries' that have been completely restored and are immediately habitable.
The land, accessible only by foot, is a relatively untouched unspoiled wilderness, and has been well preserved far away from noise and pollution. These qualities in particular make it an ideal place to create a hermitage and retreat centre similar to the those found in the Himalayas.

Plans for the development are well under way but we still need further sponsorship for the purchase of the land. Our target is 135,000€. Currently 35,000€ had been donated.
