Visit of Lobsang Sangay

Lobsang Sangay, new prime minister of the Tibetan Government in exile visited Namkha Rinpoche and the Thegchok Ling center in Switzerland

26th July 2011

Lobsang Sangay has been elected as the next Kalon Tripa, or prime minister, of the Tibetan Government in Exile on 26 April 2011, succeeding the 5th Samdhong Rinpoche. He is a Tibetan legal scholar, and an expert on Tibet and international human rights law. He is also currently a visiting Research Fellow at the East Asian Legal Studies Program at Harvard Law School. Mr Sangay will now assume the political functions of the Dalai Lama, who said he wanted to devolve this responsibility to an elected official.

Lobsang Sangay visited Namkha Rinpoche and the Swiss Rigdzin Community Center (Thegchok Ling in Lausanne). He was welcomed by some monks of the Sera Monastery (South India) who were in Switzerland for a Cham dance tour and some students of the Rigdzin Community. He was offered a long life Mandala. Lobsang Sangay talked about his new position and the expectation he has to help the tibetan cause around the world.
